Optical Low Pass Filters

Sunex, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of Optical Low Pass Filters [OLPF] for CMOS and CCD imaging.  OLPF are used in high resolution, mega pixel applications to prevent optical effects that degrade the final image quality. 

As the trend towards higher resolution CMOS and CCD imagers continues the demand for higher performance optics will also increase.  Imagers with mega pixel and higher resolution will benefit from high quality glass and glass/hybrid lenses.  These lenses provide the resolution needed for 1.3M, 2M, 3M+ imagers. 

However, these high-resolution lens/imager packages also require optical low pass filters to prevent aliasing effects also known as Moiré fringes.  These effects, visible in the output image, can only be eliminated by incorporating a low pass filter into the optical train.  Optical low pass filters block high frequency spatial information to prevent the aliasing affects caused by pixel sampling of the image.

Sunex offers several standard Optical Low Pass filters, some with an integrated IR cut off filter to provide true color reproduction.  Custom filter solutions in prototype and production quantities are also available.
